What’s with the run on the banks?

Went to the auto shop this morning and overheard one of the workers talking about people are making a run to the ATMs and withdrawing money like crazy. Told my wife about this story and she heard the same thing. Drove by a few bank branches and they had them blocked off in the drive thru part. It looked like they were doing some kind of work though. The walk up ATM didn’t seem so bad. What’s going on? Could it be that some people’s unemployment funds finally came through? That’s what a debit or credit card is for.

People who do not have bank accounts or savings, except for lottery tickets, are burning and looting their neighborhoods, which in turn causes people with bank accounts and savings to get nervous and withdraw cash.

Why? It is FDIC insured. Not like your money is physically at the bank.

Unless they wanna have a few dollars on them if shit pops off I guess.

Ok that kinda makes sense. But isn’t more convenient to just use the card as you go along? Unless they need to pay rent, go buy marijuana maybe. No gambling machines are operating yet so can’t gamble.
